Mike’s investment career started during the early ’90s in San Francisco. As the youngest portfolio manager at RCM Capital Management, he managed $1 Billion in small and mid-cap growth companies. He later joined Neuberger Berman and launched their aggressive growth mutual fund, which he grew to over $700 million. Mike went on to co-founded Copper Rock Capital, a $5 Billion investment management firm focused on small and emerging companies. Recently, Mike founded and led Craig Hallum’s Alpha Select List, aimed at identifying the next generation of small growth companies.
Giving back to his local community is important to Mike. He was a long-term board member of both the Emerson Umbrella for the Arts and the Concord Education Fund. He served as president of the Concord Affordable Housing Committee. Mike now spends any free time teaching Equity Research at Bentley University, one of the premier business schools in the nation.
Personally, entrepreneurship also is important to Mike. He now owns two thriving restaurants on the Big Island of Hawaii. He currently serves as an advisory board member to an emerging hospitality mobile app company and a start-up cleantech company.
Mike graduated from Arizona State University (’89) with a B.S. in Finance and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He currently lives in Concord, MA, and spends winter weekends skiing at Okemo and summers on Martha’s Vineyard with his wife Robin and their three children.
